Hi, I’m Cath. Policy writer, mum of a future Brumbies player, beach loving Brisbanite turned Canberran who has an unhealthy obsession with designer dresses.

My story as a celebrant started in early 2023 when my best friend had the most scathingly brilliant idea to be married by the person who loves her the most (minus her now husband, of course). So as a favour to her (and because she promised me I could wear a number of fabulous dresses throughout the day) I enrolled in a course and became an authorised marriage celebrant.

The wedding day was in Sydney, 42 degrees, my ipad was sliding out of my hand, and I knew half of the invited guests - all of which I thought would have made me a nervous wreck. But the opposite happened. I absolutely loved it. Not only was I a significant part of my best friend’s special day, but I had found my new passion – marrying people in love in beautiful dresses!

HELLO WORLD. THIS IS ME.

So other than weddings, what is my life like? Well, I am a writer by trade, and after four university degrees I moved from Brisbane to Canberra to commence my career as an intelligence analyst and spent the next 10 years working in various pacific countries. I then needed a change and tried my hand at policy writing … Nerd alert, I loved it! I am now a policy writer (youth justice is my speciality) by weekday and celebrant by weekend.

Then there is the fun stuff – days spent with my hubby, my five year old son (who WILL be a pro golfer or Brumbies player very very soon) and love of my life, my chocolate labrador Cooper. We love to get down to the coast to swim, ride bikes and play golf…ok they play golf and I drink wine in the golf cart….but I still participate!

WHY ME?

I am a firm believer that a wedding is only about two people, the two getting married. Everyone else is there to have fun and be a part of the day you have planned and designed. My role in your day is not to be show stealer, but it is to make sure your love story is told beautifully, your ceremony is professional, perfect and flawless and the world stops to see you marry the person you most love. As a writer by trade I will write you a ceremony that is special and unique to you.
